Abstract: We propose in this paper an alternative method for calibrating light sensors. This method makes use of a thermal light source (lamp filament) working at different temperatures as a function of electrical power. The Blackbody model is used as a first approximation to describe the spectral radiance. The spectral sensitivity, characteristic to be determined, depends indirectly of the current applied to the lamp. To test experimentally the idea, a device was developed. To control the spectral stability in the different uses of the equipment, a well-known light sensor (reference sensor) is used: For a given lamp filament temperature, which correspond to a given spectrum, the sensor must have the same voltage output. The main features of the equipment and the preliminary experimental results of the calibration study of some types LED light sensors are presented.
