Leônidas de Mello Deane (1914-1993)

Resumo

Este pequena resenha sobre o pesquisador paraense Leonidas de Mello Deane dá sequência à série iniciada na Revista NORTE CIÊNCIA (ISSN 2177-4315) da Academia Paraense de Ciências, sobre cientistas que se formaram no Pará e exerceram suas pesquisas em outros estados brasileiros. O médico Leonidas Deane foi um grande pesquisador que deixou contribuições fundamentais para o conhecimento das doenças infecciosas endêmicas no Brasil ou importadas de outros países. Dentre elas, as leishmanioses e a malária. Neste breve relato sobre Leonidas Deane, mostramos sua importância como cientista e como formador de novas equipes de pesquisadores.

Abstract

This short report about the researcher Leonidas de Mello Deane is a sequence for the series we start to publish in the Revista Norte Ciencia (ISSN 2177-4315), a journal published by the Academia Paraense de Ciencias, about the scientists who began their researches in other Brazilian states. The physician Leonidas Deane was an important researcher who left fundamental contributions to the knowledge of infectious diseases that were endemic in Brazil, or imported from other countries. In this brief report about Leonidas Deane we show his importance as a scientist and conducting new researchers groups.
